TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd.
— Advanced Lighting Solutions for Manufacturing Environments
Project Background:
TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (TCL CSOT) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TCL Corporation, established in 2009 and headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. As a global leader in the manufacturing of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, TCL CSOT focuses on the research, production, and sales of high-quality display products for various markets. The company’s main business includes medium and large-size LCD panel production, with applications spanning televisions, mobile phones, monitors, automotive displays, and more. With multiple production bases both in China and internationally, TCL CSOT continues to lead the global industry through innovation and strong R&D capabilities.
Challenges & Needs:
Before the lighting upgrade,TCL encountered several challenges:
High Energy Consumption: TCL CSOT faced significant energy consumption issues due to their lighting systems in production lines and facilities, leading to increased operational costs.
Frequent Maintenance Issues: The existing lighting infrastructure required frequent repairs and bulb replacements, resulting in high maintenance costs and disruptions to production.
Uneven Lighting Distribution: Some areas of the production floor were poorly lit, which negatively impacted worker productivity and safety, leading to inefficiencies.
Solution:
We worked closely with TCL China Star Optoelectronics to design a lighting solution that reduced energy consumption and improved lighting uniformity across their production areas. The solution focused on enhancing efficiency and creating a safer, more comfortable working environment.
Energy-Efficient Lighting Upgrade: TCL CSOT replaced their old lighting systems with LED lights, which offer significant energy savings while still providing the required lighting for production. The LED retrofit reduced power consumption by up to 60%.
Automated Lighting Control Systems: A smart lighting control system was implemented, utilizing sensors that adjust the lighting according to real-time conditions, reducing unnecessary energy use. This included occupancy sensors and daylight harvesting features.
Even Lighting Distribution: The lighting layout was redesigned to ensure even light distribution across the entire production area, reducing shadows and ensuring a consistent level of brightness.
Reduced Maintenance Costs: The LED system significantly reduced maintenance needs as LED lights have a much longer lifespan compared to traditional bulbs, cutting down on replacement and repair costs.
Environmental Sustainability: The new lighting solution aligned with the company's commitment to sustainability by reducing both energy consumption and CO2 emissions, supporting TCL’s environmental goals.
Project Outcomes:
Energy Savings: Achieved a 60% reduction in energy consumption across production areas.
Lower Maintenance Costs: Reduced maintenance needs due to the long lifespan of LED lighting.
Improved Lighting Quality: Enhanced uniformity and brightness, boosting productivity and safety.
Conclusion:
TCL CSOT's lighting retrofit significantly reduced energy consumption by 60%, aligning with their sustainability goals. The switch to LED lighting also lowered maintenance costs due to the longer lifespan of the new system. The improved lighting distribution enhanced safety and productivity on the production floor. Overall, the project has delivered long-term cost savings and operational efficiency.
